Leasing Consultant Matthew Teddy Rowland
Hometown?
Flat Rock, Michigan
How long have you worked at Paragon?
Three years as of December 20th.
How did you begin your career at Paragon?
I was a part time maintenance guy at a property just North of Monroe, mourning my career in sales. My property was purchased and Paragon was hired to run it. I moved around as a full-time tech for awhile until I landed comfortably as Assistant Maintenance Supervisor at our Westwood Village Property.
Never having lost the desire to be in the marketing/sales business, I began studying real estate sales. Before I could make the biggest mistake of my life (other than that bowl haircut I had in high school) and leave the company, I was given the opportunity to join the ranks of Paragon’s leasing staff.
What’s your favorite part about working at Paragon?
How do you pick your favorite part of a job you love? Is it not being able to decide if I’m working or playing while clocked in? Is it spending time with people all day? The company events or competitions? I can’t decide. Let’s skip this one for now.
What are your hobbies?
Chasing my children through playgrounds. I’m also a runner, reader, and avid shoe wearer.
A fun fact about you?
I have never been beaten at an egg and spoon race. Never.
Favorite restaurant?
Pegasus in Detroit.
Favorite place to shop?
What do you love most about Detroit?
When you drive down I-75 at night and you can see the skyline lit up. It’s one of my favorite things to see.
What is one of Detroit’s best kept secrets?
If Detroit had a secret, it wouldn’t be telling me and I wouldn’t tell you. *cough* Eastern Market. *cough*

What is your role at Paragon?
I am a Senior Leasing Consultant. I am in charge of showing people our beautiful community, processing applications, and taking care of our wonderful residents’ needs.
How long have you worked at Paragon?
I started at Paragon on March 30th, 2015.
What is your favorite part about working for Paragon?
My favorite part about working for Paragon is the fun atmosphere and interaction we have on a daily basis, and the appreciation I feel every single day (okay, that’s two).
What are your hobbies?
I love to play the piano, play with my parakeets, read the Bible, and watch Turkish Soap Operas with my mom.
Tell us how you began your career at Paragon?
I was living at a Paragon-managed community for four years and working at a hotel at the time as a front desk manager for ten years. A big fire happened at the apartment buildings I resided in on January 7th, 2015. My two baby parakeets and all my belongings were in the apartment. I was distraught, to say the least. The employees at Paragon not only saved my parakeets, but made sure that me and everyone else were taken care of both monetarily and mentally. I was so impressed by the level of service and sense of care that I decided to leave my job of ten years to join the Paragon family! So happy I did!
Tell us one fun fact about you:
I have been to Egypt 7 times!

One of the kindest things you can do is be inspiring to others, with a warm smile, a kind gesture, a hand up. But don’t forget you. Inspire yourself to be that person you’ve always wanted to be, or do that one thing that will really make your day, week, year, life.

]]>A big-tall-cold-ice filled glass of lemonade thank you goes out to all the Paragon Properties, volunteers, and residents that made “Alex’s Lemonade Stand—Giving Apartment Style” a huge success.
The goal was to raise $5000 for the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, that helps to fight childhood cancer. The goal was reached through the generous donations and efforts of residents and volunteers, and selling lemonade.
By reaching this goal, Paragon Properties will match the amount raised, doubling the funds raised to combat childhood cancer. The best part is that the goal was surpassed!
Once again, a big Thank You to all who participated and donated to such a worthy cause.
