Date Night With Your Honey

First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes Jr. in the baby carriage. The bills pile up. Tension runs high. Fights ensue. You go to sleep angry, cold tushie to cold tushie.

Marriage can be stressful.

It’s no wonder that married women are more anxious than their singleton peers.

What can you do to ease the tension of marriage besides choose the winning lottery numbers, take your winnings and move to a tropical island where you lounge in cabanas and sip fruity drinks adorned with paper umbrellas? Hey wait, that sounds nice…

The other alternative, and much less weighty on the pocket book is: go on a date night with your spouse.

Make the time. It’s important to reconnect and remember why you’re in this relationship to begin with. The fire sometimes feels like it isn’t there anymore, that spark that brought you together in the first place. Take the time to rekindle it. Especially with what’s going on in the world, it’s so important to have a good relationship with your spouse, your support!

Keep it in the budget. Allow for a couple of date nights per month. They
don’t have to be expensive, you could do something right in the privacy of your own home! Prepare a meal together and eat it at a candlelit table, or just pop a bag of popcorn, cuddle up on the couch and rent a movie and make out through it. See, easy peasy.

If you don’t have a regular sitter, arrange with your parents or siblings to take the kids for a couple of hours. Or even better, overnight. Wink, wink. Nudge, nudge.

Make it like a real date. Call your spouse and ask him or her out for a specific day and time. Just like the old days! Remember when? Ah, memories.

Make time for each other. Just because your married doesn’t mean things aren’t fun and exciting anymore. It just takes a little more work than it used to.

But it’s worth it!

So, what are you waiting for? Pick up that phone and make that date! You won’t be sorry!
