You Are What You Think

WIth the New Year, you may start working on your body: exercise and nutrition, but there’s one important aspect to also work on. Your mind.

Good health is not just physical, you sometimes have to change your way of thinking.
Change and challenge what you once felt was right for you.
If you are not healthy and not happy, it would be a safe bet to say that what you are thinking and doing is not right for you.

It’s crazy to think that you can get different results doing the same things that have not worked for you in the past.

Try something new, try something different.
What do you have to lose? Nothing.
What do you have to gain? Everything.

So, how do you get your mind in shape to help you be a healthier you?

Your thoughts
Have you ever heard “Change your thoughts, change your life”?
What you think has a profound effect on your life. Broadening your outlook can expand your options and opportunities and possibilities.

What you say to yourself matters
That little voice inside your head is very powerful.
Make it a powerful positive voice. Instead of saying “you can’t”, change that tape looping in your head to say “you can.” Give yourself encouragement.

Visualize your success
See yourself achieveing your goals.
Enjoy achieving your goals, that is the only way you will stick to them.

Be realistic
Don’t shoot for a goal that you can’t achieve.
Losing 50 pounds in one week is not realistic.
Losing 3 pounds in one week is realistic and better for your body.

When I want to evaluate something in my life to decide what my next step should be, I always follow a Dr. Phil-ism.
I ask myself “How’s that working for ya?”
