Buffalo Wild Blues Festival

March 1, 2011
By

Recently, I was watching an episode of Unwrapped, which is a show on Food Network that shows how a variety of America’s favorite foods are prepared. Last week, I caught an episode where they were showing how they prepare and sauce the chicken at Buffalo Wild Wings aka B-Dubs. After watching this show a, a craving ignited in me. As fate would have it, my life partner/best friend and I were on the same wavelength. So we dined at the B-Dubs in Ferndale on Wednesday night.

Once there, since it was after 10pm we were carded. They have this policy that  after 10pm you have to be 21 or older.  We decided to sit at a booth between the bar and the dining hall, right under one of their thirty or so flat screen tv’s. I ordered 6 original hot wings and he ordered 12 boneless bbq wings. Our waitress was very polite and attentive. The service there was phenomenal, but our wings were not even hot to the touch! They weren’t even warm. I didn’t mind because they tasted the same, but Ken however ordered the boneless wings and I doubt those are any good lukewarm.

Whilst there, we also discovered our new pastime, Buzztime Trivia! Ken and I are very competitive, especially when it comes to Me vs. Him. So we got there around ten and stayed pretty much until close because one couldn’t win while the other one lost. So after we tied for the second time we left, with the intention of coming back, even though the wings were not even remotely hot.

Due to our interest in their addicting trivia game and delicious and equally addicting chicken wings, we decided to take another trip there Saturday night.  It just so happens that it was a Blues Festival going on, with a live band performing on the bar side of the restaurant. We sat and swayed in our seats to the soulful, bluesy tunes of Luther “Bad Man” Keith and ate the most decadent chicken wings. It was almost a sensory overload with so many senses being pleasured. After we ate we only had a couple games of trivia in before we had to leave. Turns out you have request the trivia game to be turned on if it isn’t already.

The Ferndale Blues Festival began Friday January 28th and lasted until the 6th of February which will be topped off with a BBQ Rib Contest. The live bands will be performing all around downtown Ferndale at various bars and restaurants until then. Some of them require a cover charge or a donation.  100% of the donated funds will go to local charities (you can also donate via their website).

There is no greater combination than scrumptious food and enjoyable music to soothe the soul. I wish I had the chance to attend more performances but the weather made up my mind for me.
