If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, Royal Oak has just the event for you. The Royal Oak Retailers Association is hosting its first-ever Snap Judgment Photography Event from Feb. 24 through Feb. 27.
Throughout downtown Royal Oak, retail stores, restaurants and businesses will be displaying photography by local Detroit and national photographers. Each Royal Oak business will feature a different photographer of their choosing, representing that photographer’s unique style and the statement each one makes or conveys through their images.
A VIP event will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at Fifth Avenue. This is an opportunity to enjoy a drink and appetizers while admiring photographs. Many businesses will be offering discounts and goodies to attendees on Thursday as well, so they are encouraged to wander around the downtown area. Tickets are $15, and proceeds will benefit the Royal Oak Animal Shelter.
Each participating business will give out a casino playing card, compliments of Soaring Eagle Casinos. A winning poker hand will be turned in at the end of the night at Fifth Avenue, and prizes will be handed out, courtesy of Royal Oak stores, restaurants and businesses.
Participating businesses include 5th & Fringe Salon, BlackFinn, Cold Stone Creamery, Creative Arts Studio, Fifth Avenue, FIVE15 Media, Mojo & More, Gallery U, Gayle’s Chocolates, Goldfish Tea, Iklekktikk, Lift, Noir Leather, Pronto Corner Store, Rock on Third, Stella Boutique, The Lady Bug Shoppe, Vinter’s Cellar and Write Impressions.
The Snap Judgment Photography Event is free and open to the public on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. A second poker run will be held on Saturday, Feb. 26, and the winning hand also will receive prizes from local Royal Oak businesses.
