Face it, if you’re anything like me you’re fascinated by thrillers, movies meant to keep you on the edge of your seat.

It’s the shared experience, the common shriek we share when something frightening is revealed. Well, if horror is your genre, no doubt Anthony Hopkins is an actor you can count on for chills and thrills.

Known for his Oscar-winning performance as Hannibal “The Cannibal” Lecter in Silence of the Lambs, he takes on the role of an an American priest who travels to Italy to study at a mysterious exorcism school in Italy in the new Mickael Hafstrom drama The Rite, opening Jan. 28.

But ParagonLife readers won’t have to wait that long to see this fright-fest.

Exorcism makes a fascinating subject for filmmakers. From 1973′s head-spinning, pea-soup-spouting, The Exorcist to last year’s The Last Exorcism, which takes a documentary film crew into the fold, it’s a topic Hollywood loves to revisit. It’s all in gory, good fun.

Are you fan? Describe the scene and movie that gave you the biggest chill in a movie about exorcism. Leave the comment in below along with your name and email address so we can reach you. And you’ll be entered to win 2 free passes to an upcoming free screening of The Rite in Rochester Hills!

We’ll send out as many passes as we can – on a first-come, first-served basis, so hurry up and leave a comment! And we’ll get back to you as soon as possible with an email detailing the information if you’ve won.

Once we’ve garnered all the winners, we’ll let you know!

Check out the trailer to The Rite, right here. Good luck, dear readers!

I like the spinning of the head in the excorist. I still cringe when I see that seen.

  2. Sandy Adkins on January 10, 2011 at 9:51 am

I get the heebee jeebees when she starts talking in the deamons voice. It is just unatural. Of course the pea soup on her lips does not make me feel any better.

I would have to say The Exorcist. The whole spider walk scene. I don’t like spiders first off and when a person walks like that it makes the hairs on my arm stand up….yikes!

  4. Dana Osowski on January 10, 2011 at 9:55 am

The Last Exorcism. The last scene in the movie when the cameraman gets beheaded really got me.

  5. Jennifer Armour on January 10, 2011 at 9:57 am

I was really young when I saw the exorcist and it scared me soooooooooooooooo much when Linda Blair’s head did the 360. I didn’t understand how they could do that!

  6. Amy Johnsonbaugh on January 10, 2011 at 10:04 am

I forgot about The Last Exorcism. I closed my eyes when they went into the girl’s room and she was up on the top of the dresser when she was clearly possessed.

Hands down it has to be from The Exorcist III – the scene in the hospital when the killer, cloaked in a white bedsheet, walks across the hallway, arms outstretched holding a gigantic pair of shears, to chop off a nurse’s head. The movie, itself, is not so hot, but that scene shocked me to the core (and does to this day!).

The Exorsist is the one that I still judge all the others to. Like Jaws, it was this of its kind and is always the bench mark. The Sceen where the preist realizes that she is possed when the Holy Water burns her skin in haunting. The look on his face, and then hers is some of the best in movie

The Exorcist. The vomiting scenes were gross. I know it was physically impossible, but I could smell the vomit. smell it,

The dance scene in Carrie will forever be a scary memory for me! She had a bizarre mother… Similar to the mom in The Bklck Swan…

  13. Lydia on January 10, 2011 at 11:20 am

I still get scared watcing Carrie.

The Exorcist – When the demon leaves the girls body and into the priest. His possessed face freaked me out more than the little girls. Gives me chills thinking about it…..

    JAWS ~ 1975: In opening scene…

Silence of the Lambs is one that gave me nightmares. This guy is pure evil and I wouldn’t want to end up on his dinner plate.

  17. l . Di Vito on January 10, 2011 at 12:06 pm

I love the head spinning, as well as the bed shaking and rising………..

  18. Susan Mc on January 10, 2011 at 12:12 pm

The Excorcist with Linda Blair can never be touched. It is the all time best. I would like to see if this comes clos.

Last Exorcism, the girl possessed was pretty freaky.

  22. Peter Chandler on January 10, 2011 at 1:08 pm

The Last Exorcism the scene where Nells body is possessed by the demon. The demon then bends her backwards and breaks two of her fingers…whew creepy.

  25. Robert F. on January 10, 2011 at 3:32 pm

I know a lot of people forgot about the Exorcism of Emily Rose but the scene in the barn where the priest is performing the exorcism and all the rats and bugs are leaving and it’s storming and the demon starts talking and stuff is flying all over the place. I was curled up super tight in my blanket with the volume turned all the way up trying not to soil my pants, lol. Definitely the best exorcism scene I’ve seen, period.

  26. Melody on January 10, 2011 at 7:35 pm

The Exorcism made me afraid to go to bed for weeks. I can’t watch that movie to this day. CREEPY

  27. ryan ravitz on January 11, 2011 at 1:56 am

When Nell takes the camera and wanders out to the barn and bashes the cat to death with it in The Last Exorcism

  28. Stephanie Rooks on January 11, 2011 at 7:42 am

The Exorcist is a cult classic…hard to beat the scary scenes when the priest is doing all he can to exorcize the demon out of Linda Blair. I think the scariest part of that was when the bed was moving all around the room. I had always been terrified of something hiding under the bed that I would jump 4 or 5 feet from my bed, if I had to get up in the middle of the night!

  29. Hal Watson on January 13, 2011 at 10:50 am

When the head starrted to rotate during the origonal Exorsist.

  30. Adam on January 15, 2011 at 12:27 pm

In “The Last Exorcism” when the girl gave birth to the demon-child during the twisted ending.

  31. Michelle Terry on January 15, 2011 at 11:02 pm

The Exorcist was one of the scaries films of its time and it remains so today. The scene that scares me the most is when the little girl’s head spins. The sounds are very scary too. It is terrifying to see Linda Blair going from being a nice girl to being evil. I can still remember being afraid to sleep at the lock in I was attending when I saw this movie.
