So, if you’re like me, you got up around 8 a.m. this morning, got ready and shuffled off to the work like any other Friday. If you’re a little bit scrappier, though, and arguably a little bit more crazy, you set your alarm for some ungodly hour and joined the masses hoping to snag some crazy deals for the infamous Black Friday.
I’m not that brave.
But that doesn’t mean I haven’t seen snooping around online, checking for those same Black Friday deals that people are waiting in checkout lines to take advantage of. I was geeked to hear that Apple was offering its own set of deals, but after checking them out online, it doesn’t seem to live up to the hype.
Then I decided to check out Amazon.com after a couple of friends were talking about their wants from the site. But unfortunately, since I’m not really interested in the first complete season of The Vampire Diaries, I left disappointed.
Next on the list was Old Navy. A friend of mine took a video of a line of people 250 deep at a store location on Coolidge Highway in Troy. So I figured if there were that many people waiting in line, there had to be a good reason, so off to the website I went. And I was pleasantly surprised.
I was greeted by a giant announcement for Friday’s “doorbuster deals,” so they made it really easy for me, as a user, to get straight to the good stuff. I immediately see a couple of offers for $5 items, and I’m completely on board.
And they’re not selling Frisbees for $5. They’re selling graphic tees and “comfy” pants for $5! Coupled with $15 adult jeans and $15 fleece jackets and vests, you’ve got a winning combination.
Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Old Navy? Really?” But to be completely honest, I’ve always had great luck with the stuff I’ve bought from there because the items last a long time and they stay true to size. And do you really care where your pajama pants come from? You’re typically the only person who has to look at them.
So the moral of the story is if, like me, you’d rather enjoy the Black Friday deals from the comforts of home (or the office), check out Old Navy for some comfy winter gear (and no, they’re not paying me to say that).
Are there any retailers I missed? Where did you find good deals today? Leave your suggestions in the comments.
