Things are getting hot in Plymouth – it’s Chili Cookoff time

October 8, 2010
By

For the 15th year downtown Plymouth is ready to turn up the heat and bring out their best culinary competitors for the Great Lakes Regional Chili Cookoff. The temperature may be dropping, but the pots will soon be simmering in three International Chili Society categories: red chili, green chili and salsa.

According to a preview in the Plymouth Observer, this year’s event will feature the largest number of participating restaurants for the Restaurant Chili Challenge – 19 of them vying for the coveted “Best Chili in Plymouth” award – as well as a new component – the Battle of the Business competition.

Staying true to the chili fest tradition, fans can taste chili and stroll around town listening to live music, while also checking out motorcycle show at Kellogg Park. Chili is sold for $1 a taste or $4 a bowl. More than 50 chefs will be cooking in the event to see whose recipes win the hearts of the judges and chili fans.

The cookoff runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Plymouth with the chili challenge at Penniman Avenue and Kellogg Park.

So tell us, what chili style turns your taste buds up to 10? Do you plan to attend the cookoff? Have you attended the event in the past?
