Paragon residents in Clinton Township may soon have an easier commute

The Moravian Bridge will be repaired

Living in or getting around Clinton Township hasn’t been easy  this year. Dodging orange construction barrels has become something of the norm around here.

But according C and G Newspapers, driving Macomb County is about to ease up. Fewer projects are scheduled for 2011, which means a smooth ride ahead, too.

Reporter Heidi Roman recapped some of the projects that had traffic snarled through the previous months, and shared some news of what’s to come:

Drivers couldn’t get through the community this summer without noticing the construction crews and barrels on Metropolitan Parkway between Garfield and Groesbeck. The $8.7 million widening project was the Road Commission’s biggest, financially speaking, of the year. Officials in the township had pushed for it for years.

Commuters can look forward to Nov. 15, when the completed road is expected to open to traffic. Some landscaping work will carry over into 2011.

Also taking place this season is the resurfacing of Romeo Plank Road from Cass Avenue to Canal Road, near the township Civic Center, and an intersection upgrade at Canal Road. That work is supposed to wrap up in November.

In 2011 Clinton Township residents can brace for resurfacing projects on Harper from 13 Mile to 15 Mile roads. The Road Commission will replace the Moravian Bridge over the Clinton River south of Cass Avenue early next year. Also, Van Dyke will be widened from 24 Mile to 25 Mile roads in nearby  Shelby Township.
