Even though the kids will very soon be going back to school, summer isn’t over just yet.
For me, I’m squeezing in all the summer I possibly can, it is my absolute favorite time of the year. For those with the fever, there are plenty of summertime activities going on to continue to “get your summer on.”
Free weekly summer outdoor concerts still pepper the landscape.
One gem is a lunchtime concert “Eat to the Beat.”
Held on Thursday afternoons from 12noon to 2:00pm at the Southfield City Centre Plaza, located at Central Park Boulevard, between Civic Center Drive and the I-696 service drive; this scenic street concert offers great music, good food and an energizing atmosphere.
Eat to the Beat runs until September 9th.
The remaining concerts feature:
- Aug. 26th – Witch Doctors
- September 2 – Carl Cafagna & North Star Jazz
- September 9 – The Groove Council

For free evening concerts, venture over to the “Gazebo Concert Series.”
On Tuesday evenings, from 7pm-8:30pm, you can enjoy the music and atmosphere while relaxing in picturesque Burgh Historical Park. Located at Berg Road and Civic Center Drive. Gazebo Concerts run until August 31. Featured will be The Rhythym Society Orchestra, a classic 16-piece Big Band.
