Movie cameras are rolling around metro Detroit and for one Clinton Township couple, the opportunity came knocking at just the right time.
Dan and Kathy Comaianni of Clinton Township recently embarked on a new business venture, the aptly named Next Chapter Bookstore & Bistro in quaint downtown Northville. The couple – recently featured in this Detroit Free Press column – had worked real estate broker and the owner of Pintura Salon & Spa in Clinton Township before Dan Comaianni decided to follow his dream of opening an espresso bar.
The shop had not even opened its doors to the public before location scouts for the next film in Director Wes Craven’s Scream series – Scream 4 – came knocking. Drawn by the name and the look of the place, Next Chapter is currently being captured on film. Stars Courteney Cox Arquette, David Arquette and Neve Campbell return for the popular horror series, which made its debut in 1996.
The Comaianni’s weren’t familiar with the movies – but they’re children were. According to Tom Walsh’s column:
Kathy didn’t know who Craven was, but when she mentioned the visit at home that night, daughter Lindsay, 27, exclaimed, “Mom, Wes Craven is huge!”
The film shoot required some structural changes to the interior – none of which posed a challenge as severe storm damage had left its own mark on the new shop. The movie has also been filming in Livonia near the courthouse. BeforeTheTrailer.com has some great photo evidence for us here.
