I moved to Clinton Township last summer and it was really a culture shock for me since I had been living in Whitmore Lake a small lake town between Ann Arbor and Brighton. I researched apartments for months on Rent.com. Lakeside Village had the most square footage for the money and also in the middle of the complex there were many trees. All I see looking out my door wall is trees. I cannot even see the apartments across the road from me. It took a while but I have adjusted and have started making plans and goals. I moved here to take care of my first grand child and that is very rewarding.
I had a friend come over and really did not know where to take him. My daughter suggested the Partridge Creek Mall. WOW!!!! What an impressive place. I did some research and according to the Crain Report of November 2009 it states: it cost $155 million to build and is 640,000 sq. ft. There are high quality department stores, an MJR theater and 90 stores and restaurants. And an excerpt from Crains report stated: “Added features include fountains, park benches and landscaped walkways. Amenities include two bocce ball courts, a children’s play area, outdoor flat-screen televisions, granite game tables for checkers, chess and backgammon and a gathering place with a large stone fireplace.”
There is a brick walkway throughout. It is such an awesome meeting place. There are benches, tables and chairs and rocking chairs to sit on. It is dog friendly and the dogs can even go into the stores. That alone was fun enough. What a great place to take your children to just to dog watch. I like to go there and read. I think it is really a great place for a newcomer like me. Partridge Creek is located on Hall Road just east of Garfield on the south side of the road in Clinton Township.
After living my entire life on the west side, this mall gave me the opportunity to be around people since I did not know anyone. Everyone that visits me tags along to the mall. These malls are being built all over the country. In a world where we are so isolated from each other AND our families, this place gives you the feeling of belonging in the community. Every time I am there I wish I had a dog – LOL.
So if you are like me and should get out more often, this is the place to go. Take your book, buy a cup of coffee and enjoy the book and all the people around you!!
