Those of us living in Clinton Township have been given a wonderful gift that I have only recently discovered. Located on Moravian just south of Cass Avenue, the entrance to the park could easily be mistaken for a luxurious gated estate. Travel past the enormous fountain into the park and you will be amazed.
The park itself seems huge to me and instantly you feel better for being there. I’ve read articles that indicate the grounds to be about 30 acres. It is very family-friendly with lots of playscapes for the kids and even an enormous gazebo for picnicking. Evidently in the summer of 2008 a very generous family donated the entire park in memory of their grandfather. I would like to thank them for this wonderful park as I enjoy it quite alot.
My collie Alice and I love to visit George George. In fact, Alice recognizes the words and hops right into the van knowing where we are headed. The park is dog friendly and provides “poo” sacks for those who don’t have them. However, most of the dog walkers that I know keep those stashed in their pockets for emergency evacuation.
The walking paths at George George are wide and nicely paved. They meander through beautiful lawn areas and many gardens features. (Alice doesn’t care for the fountain the center of the park but I sure do! It’s absolutely beautiful. She just doesn’t care for splashing water). The paths run all the way through the park, over several water areas with wonderful bridges. The largest bridge is over the Clinton River.
Although our main intent in journeying to this park is to get our exercise, I love the reaction I get from people when they see Alice. While collies used to be a very popular breed you don’t see them often nowadays. Folks who remember “Lassie” usually remark about her and ask to meet her. Little kids who have no knowledge of collies also want to pet and hug her and she loves it. She is a very patient dog and tolerates adoration quite well!
George George Memorial Park is beautiful (and so is Alice). Treat yourself to a visit! You will undoubtedly find yourself going again and again.

I had no idea that park was there. I will be sure to visit.
Yes, a very nice park. Lots of friendly people, along with a great place to take photos.
I had NO idea this park was even there! I am going to check it out as soon as I can, my kids will sure love a new park to go to!
I am very familiar with this area, as I worked @ Thomas’ Crystal Gardens, which was there before they tore it down to build the Meijer at this location!
Some pics of the park and its beauty would be wonderful to show out-of-town friends.
