As a computer user, I’ve been totally attached at the hip to a computer for two decades now. The iPhone is my very own version of heaven in my hand. My platform of choice–a Mac.
One of the topics I share is my tips, tricks and use on the Mac platform, as well as many items that are cross-platform. If you are a computer user and especially a Mac user, there is definitely a local gem that you need to be aware of: MacGroup-Detroit.
This is the largest Mac User Group in Michigan and meets regularly at the Birmingham Temple, in Farmington Hills, every month. As a member myself, we help out all kinds of computer users. And yes, we have members who are also on the Windows platform.
There’s nothing like spending time with those who have the same interests as you do and who can educate you far faster than reading any manual can.
Check out some items of interest about MacGroup-Detroit here.

Hi Chita: I just passed the ‘wealth’ of information on to a friend. I too am so totally attached to my computer and laptop. Thanks for the information,
Peace;
Marquierite
My pleasure. looking forward to the many conversations to be had.
I’m a Mac girl too! I feel guilty sometimes, because I think the Mac vs PC ads are pretty mean-spirited nowadays. But the Mac is the easiest computer to run for a non-techie person like me. I can edit movies and MP3s easily–I don’t think I’d even be able to figure out how to do that on a PC! And I remember downloading music on a PC and constantly searching for it on my computer. On the Mac, it all dumps into my ITunes. Finally, I don’t know if anyone here has tried it, but the iWork studio is a great take on Word…you can do a lot of cool stuff easily!
Actually, if you think about it, they all take pretty good jabs at each other. That’s the business of marketing. But regardless, of our platform of choice, we want to learn how to use the computers we love effectively and efficiently and quickly.
I recently switched over to a mac (macbook pro, 15.4″) and I LOVE it!!! My most recent passion is Automator and the spell-check function. I should look into a Mac group in Kalamazoo. I know we have one that meets on the WMU campus every month or so…
Naidra, if you are ever on this side of town look me up, we can ‘Talk Mac.’
Our group’s meeting presentations are now available on iTunes for free download. We covered some great basic Mac app information last meeting. Check it out. MacGroup-Detroit.
Cool! Thanks Chita! I defintiely will.
